Year-end is a time to reflect as well as look forward, plan and strategize for the year ahead. HR practitioners, business owners and managers alike are researching and attending seminars to learn how the new 2014 laws will impact their business. I can say from a personal standpoint that it is always an overwhelming time of year, but also an opportunity to ensure that my clients remain in compliance as new laws come into effect.
There are quite a few noteworthy regulations that will require employers to update their policies and employee handbooks, and also communicate those changes to their employees and managers. I found this blog by Ogletree Deakens to be extremely helpful. It summarizes the new laws so you don’t have to feel like you are studying for the LSAT. There are 3 parts to the post as it categorizes the legislation based on topic; Part 1: Wage and Hour, Part 2: Disability and Leave, and Part 3: California Immigration.
