About

Maria Cordova

President/Founder

As a self-proclaimed People and Culture Geek, I find value and meaning in creating engaged and inclusive workplaces where businesses thrive because their people thrive by doing their best work. With 15+ years in all facets of human resources, supporting small and mid-size businesses through high and hyper-growth, I assist in positioning them for success.

After working in-house (everything from generalist to VP of HR) for a number of organizations in Los Angeles, I realized businesses that put HR on the back-burner paid the price, often in the form of costly turnover and lawsuits.  I knew there was a need for legitimate HR/people operations, but many small businesses didn’t have the need or resources to hire a full-time in-house professional. While working full-time, I completed my MBA from Pepperdine University, obtained two HR certifications (SPHR and SHRM-SCP) from nationally recognized organizations, and set out to change the world of HR. That’s when HumanageHR was born.

In addition to compliance and policy development; the employee experience, organizational culture, leadership development, and prioritizing psychological safety in the workplace is where I shine. Leading with empathy is rooted in my values and celebrating differences has always been important to me as a mixed-race individual.

I lean into this foundation to build modern HR practices and implement people initiatives that support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment, where employees have true impact on the organization’s success.  I support employers who are committed to creating meaningful change. I believe all good HR Pros must be able to not only denounce racism but be actively anti-racist, and that’s exactly how I operate.

When I’m not working, reading an HR/leadership book, or listening to a podcast, you can usually find me hiking and camping in the mountains, volunteering for non-profit organizations, advocating for social justice, at the gym, climbing, playing (drinking) and board games with friends, cooking, or at the dog park with my dog.

Supporting organizations allows me to live my truth and do what I love. What I believe really sets HumanageHR apart is that we work from the heart. Clients see the positive, profitable, lasting impact of the work we do, and it’s done with true intention and a deep understanding of their unique business.
